Oil, enamel, charcoal, spray paint, and collage

This piece was created for the Hallmarkers Give Back fundraising event. The event raises money and awareness for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, American Heart Associations Go Red for Women Campaign, and Children's Mercy Hospital.

My 't' painting sold for $300 and the proceeds went to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Liz Taylor was the lucky bidder who won the painting. Liz actually works for an ad agency that Hallmark works with located in Austin, Texas. Liz just happened to be at Hallmark for work and was given a tour of the Hallmarkers Give Back show. She fell in love with my painting and sent me this story as to why she was drawn to it. Hearing stories like this motivates me to paint more and to give back as much as I can to the community.
"...I was so excited! One of the main reasons I bid on your painting - there was a woman that was like a mother to me for many years who everyone called "T" (her name was Terri). I credit so much of my current value system to things she taught me when I was younger, and things I observed from how she lived her life, which was ALWAYS to the fullest. T unfortunately passed away in 2004 after a long battle with breast cancer. We were both very involved with Komen, and I was thrilled to learn the money for my "t" painting would be going to Komen. Seemed almost serendipitous. Anyway, as she still serves as one of the primary inspirations in my life, I thought it would be really wonderful to have a daily visual reminder to live life to the fullest."

I love the color, pattern, and collage effect of your paintings! I just found your blog through the link you posted on the KC Graphic Design meetup group.
